For the past several days, I have had problems streaming 256Kb MPEG4 films to view with Quick Time where I never had them before at all. Sometimes I have a frozen picture and no sound. Sometimes I have picture and sound intermittant. Sometimes I have continuous sound
and frozen pictures for several seconds. Is this a broad-band streaming problem at Internet Archive, and is any one else having similar problems?

It sounds like you are unable to receive streams from the Archive in realtime. When there is less available bandwidth than the speed of the stream the software pauses as you've described.

The Archive has been saturating its bandwidth lately, so the only likely solution is for the Archive to purchase more. You can work around the problem by downloading the show to your harddrive instead of streaming it.

You can set the delay in the Quicktime plugin's options so that the movie starts later, but more is preloaded.
